Briefing Session for 2016 Request for Information (RFI) Research Project call

Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) Institute’s 2016 Request for Information Research Project Call (MOMOSDERP16000001)

Ministry of Manpower (MOM), acting for and on behalf of the Government of the Republic of Singapore, would like to invite you to submit a proposal for Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) research projects to the Workplace Safety and Health Institute (WSH Institute), according to the Proposal Documents of this Request of Information. Please quote “RFI No. : MOMOSDERP16000001” in your submission. This RFI is open to all registered companies in Singapore with the Accounting and Corporate Regulatory Authority.  The WSH research project is for the following area only:

Falls from Heights (FFH) is one of the leading causes of work injury fatalities since 2011.  From 2011 - 2014, FFH had contributed to 55 fatalities, 339 major injuries and 2,240 minor injuries. 63.6% of the fatal cases due to FFH are from  the construction industry from the period of 2011 – 2014.

To prevent, minimise and solve these issues holistically, we welcome interested parties to provide practical solutions to the following research statement for the Construction industry:

The Research must look into providing an effective and practical system in preventing FFH accidents in the Singapore construction sector. The Research will study Construction firms differentiated by its classification based on Building and Construction Authority (BCA)’s Contractors Registration System (CRS)1 and projects of varying sizes and its limitation in managing FFH; quantify the contribution from different risk factors; and provide, implement and  evaluate differentiated and innovative practical solutions to the Construction firms studied. The Research study must  include measurements of effectiveness and practicality of the test solutions and its impact on productivity, business cost, worker behaviours, incidence of unsafe conditions and unsafe acts.

All interested parties are welcomed to send in their completed proposals via email to Mr. Cheng Yue Pan (cheng_yue_pan@wshi.gov.sg) and cc (mohamed_ismail@mom.gov.sg) no later than 4pm of 27 May 2016, Friday, the RFI closing date.
